The High Five Charity Auction that starts at 5:30 tonight at Desaki on Route 611 in Swiftwater will donate proceeds to five local nonprofits.
Michael Baxter and Associates Commercial Real Estate and Property Management will auction off 21 properties.
There also will be an auction of offerings ranging from an African safari, a weeklong vacation to Acapulco, lifetime membership to the Pocono Community Theater, a football autographed by Brandon Jacobs of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey signed by recently retired star Hines Ward, a gold and diamond heart bracelet from Adam’s Jewelry, four tickets to the June 10 Pocono 400 and a family weekend at Great Wolf Lodge, among other items.
The auction will be led by licensed auctioneer Robert Teel of Teel Auctions in Mount Bethel.
“We were hoping for 10 properties when we got started and we got 21,” Baxter said. “We’re getting a lot of community support.”
Beneficiaries include United Way of Monroe County, Pocono Services for Family and Children, the Salvation Army, Monroe County Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross of the Poconos.
Admission is $35 and includes hors d’oeuvres and music by Christian Porter.
Each auctioned property includes a $5,000 donation to the event from the seller and buyer. They can either specify the charity or charities as the recipient or split it among all five charities at $1,000 each.
The other auction will evenly split all proceeds.
“I think we’ll raise at least $50,000 in one night and if properties I think can sell do sell, we can raise $100,000,” Baxter said.
